I listened to this song many many times as background music for various radio or TV shows and I should admit that it has many hooks that make it very recognizable and on the other hand it creates a nice ambiance to let your mind ramble.
For instance, many times I listened to it, my thoughts bring me on other topics and I finally go back to it at the end of the track!
On the mixing side, the overall ambiance is very great and the huge work around reverb and delay give this sense of space and depth and it also has many tiny movements to keep the listener during this diving into Sofa Surfers‘ world.

Here is a song where it finally doesn’t be what it seems to be. Except the obvious acoustic and classical sound and the well-known vocal-piano duo that many many other songs also share, this one goes a bit further.
First, the second part of this track is full of vocal layers that play chords within the melody and brings a different mood to the song. It really enhances the overall speech and flow of the song and it gives this unique colour (of anything… :-p) for that piece of music. That way, it becomes something different from what you would know.
Then, the huge dynamic range from piano performance and vocals and great ideas everywhere always catches the audience at every moment to keep and show what the artist wants to say.
By the way, thinking, thinking, performing and recording the whole song would be a huge bunch of work to achieve to this result that sounds simple, soft and very catchy at once!

Nothing more to add about those two guys “playing” together (whatever you understand that verb).
You could see (and hear) people liking sharing their influences, their musical backgrounds, their pleasure about this moment.
On the other hand, they also use a wide range of their technical knowledges about music, how to get the most of their “instrument” and use them for the purpose of the musical speech.
Let’s enjoy this live musical journey!

Here is another band where mixing a lot of different influences is more or less the key for making their new songs.
For the chosen song, you could find some electro sounds, blues gimmick, rock riffs, loopy drums… but the final result is full of good ideas, catchy hooks, heavy layers, great contrasts to make the whole song interesting.
You could find this song live thru this One Shot Not extract.

Here is what some could call a masterpiece: covering Bohemian Rhapsody with a guitar and a singer… that’s all (and live).
In other way, how reinterpreting a song with hundreds of tracks, vocals, with drums, heavy distorted guitar chords?!
The great and positive thing in this cover is the artist recreates the cover and also gives his personal vision of this track.
A lot of emotions, sensibility and a great touch of personality without killing the original song. Hats off!

The main idea of the whole album is somehow a tribute to Claude Debussy with a heavy touch of electro music (mostly drum ‘n’ bass behaviour) and this track is a good example of what Art of Noise were able to do (and that as well… nice work with reverb BTW).
You can also view it as a background music with a mix of classical and electro sound…
Whatever, I really find this track interesting for this various flavors and I hope you could find your way to listen to it!

Jean-Marc Boulier (or Lophophora) is a true autodidact on many things on music area, but he’s also a true musician in the way that he loves music and isn’t afraid to learn new things to achieve the goal he has.
Plus he has a great sense of musicality and he likes to share music, songs, tastes isn’t against opening some of his projects, contributes to others…
The chosen song is just all of these, nice work to me!

Here is a very cool track, very catchy, nicely mixed and mostly pleasing to listen to.
It’s a very interesting example of good song, with good guys, with very strong points but with not enough exposure as it should, in my opinion.
You could also see this track as one from many others than you missed and you’re going to like, just because it’s a good song that creates something in your mind.
